Munjebel Rosso Frank Cornelissen 2022
ArtisanalMunjebel Rosso is a full-bodied and traditional expression of Nerello Mascalese and of old sapling vines from Etna. It is produced in fiberglass tanks, without additives. Intense mineral and fruity scents emerge from a long and complex taste.
The Munjebel Rosso by Cornelissen is one of the most complex and multifaceted expressions of Frank's wines, a fusion of imposing structure and deep salinity. Undeniably, we find ourselves in the elite of Italian artisanal wines with this interpretation, the result of old bush vines located among various local districts. The Munjebel Rosso comes from a blend of these, unlike the monocru that are bottled with their reference label, and for this reason, one can only admire the skillful balance between the various components of the individual vineyards: the power of Monte Colla, the Burgundian finesse of Chiusa Spagnolo, the balance of the Cru Porcaria. To drink, to feel emotions, and never to go back: a journey in which Frank leads us with each of his creations, scaling Etna and dominating the landscape from above. Imaginative.
The Munjebel is obtained from pure Nerello Mascalese grapes, coming from old bush vines over 60 years old located among the districts of Chiusa Spagnolo, Monte Colla, Porcaria, Crasa, Piano Daini on the northern slope of Etna. If in the vineyard, for always, no chemical or synthetic substances are used, and no type of treatment, in the cellar, after manual harvesting and careful selection of the bunches, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place in fiberglass tanks, without the addition of sulfur or filtration of the liquid. It then ages for 18 months in neutral fiberglass tanks.

Layered and extremely deep nose, where hints of bramble berries, dark spices, Mediterranean scrub, and citrus peel gradually emerge. The term "mineral", so overused, takes on almost tangible connotations during the olfaction of the liquid. A sip that is rich and complete, combining powerful structure, finesse, and a contribution of salt and freshness. A top class wine from Etna.
