The Nebbiolo 'Orbello' from the Piedmont winery Tenute Sella is an everyday wine, young and genuine, made from Nebbiolo with a hint of Vespolina and Cabernet Franc. On the nose, it expresses notes of berries, cherry, and plum, embraced by delicate spicy nuances due to the long aging in barrels, while on the palate it is lively and crisp, with a good tannic structure and a pleasantly refreshing finish. Ideal to drink with any meal or to pair with a platter of cheeses and cold cuts!

The Nebbiolo ‘Orbello’ is an interpretation conceived by the Piedmontese reality Tenute Sella for its crisp and accessible drinkability, yet not lacking in complexity and class. This bottle, produced for the first time with the 1980 vintage, belongs to the Coste della Sesia denomination, whose production area is included in the basin of the Sesia river, within the provinces of Biella and Vercelli. Here, viticulture has very ancient roots since already in Roman times Pliny the Elder praised the vineyards of the area for their sublime qualitative attributes.

Tenute Sella Nebbiolo ‘Orbello’ consists of a solid base of Nebbiolo, to which 10% of the grape varieties Vespolina and Cabernet Franc are added. The vines, having an average age of 15 years, are rooted in hilly soils predominantly sandy, located at an altitude between 270 and 350 meters above sea level, with southwest and southeast exposure. The harvest is usually carried out in early October and the grapes are then subjected to the operations of destemming and crushing that precede the alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, accompanied by 10 days of maceration on the skins. The subsequent malolactic fermentation is completed and the maturation of 12 months takes place in small French oak barrels of 228 liters.

‘Orbello’ Nebbiolo Coste della Sesia Tenute Sella has a bright ruby red color. The olfactory panorama is described by aromas of berries, cherry, and ripe plum, surrounded by delicate spicy and balsamic nuances. Fresh and crisp tasting, juicy and balanced, with fine and well-present tannins that lead to a fruity finish. Although it was conceived to be enjoyed already in youth, this label can sustain several years of further aging in the bottle during which it will soften its taste.
