Nizza Riserva 'La Court' Michele Chiarlo 2019
"La Court" is a pleasant and expressive Barbera d'Asti, with a full-bodied personality that ages for a year between wooden barrels and barriques. The olfactory range focuses on ripe fruit, sweet spices and coffee, the taste is ample and intense, long and persistent, characterized by a well-defined tannic texture and an enveloping freshness
The Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza “La Court” wine takes its name from the cru of origin, a truly unique stage for the potential of the Barbera grape. Here, in fact, this grape manages to take on particular characteristics that combine structure, longevity, and elegance, giving rise to a dance of aromas and flavors that captivates from the very first moments. A red with which Michele Chiarlo continues its excellence, made up of labels that tell only the best of each territory.
The Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza “La Court” is born from the pure use of one of the most present grape varieties within the Piedmontese wine terroir, the Barbera. The vines of this variety are cultivated by the Michele Chiarlo team within one of the most important crus of the entire Monferrato, La Court, characterized by a soil composed of clayey and calcareous marls, where sand and silt abound. Here, the winery cultivates 3 hectares of vineyards, located at an altitude of 240 meters above sea level and facing south and southwest. The grapes, carefully selected, ferment for 12 days in oak wood vats, then matures, both in barriques and in large barrels, for one year.
The “La Court” is a Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza that, in the glass, presents itself with a typical ruby red color, crossed by more purplish flashes at the rim. The nose is dominated by notes of small ripe red fruits, from which deeper sensations emerge that refer to spices and wood. On the palate, it is broad, soft, with a structured and round body, almost tactile; the sip is characterized by a pleasant fresh vein, which makes it easy to drink. One of the most representative labels produced by the Michele Chiarlo winery, which, vintage after vintage, consistently confirms excellent quality levels.
