Pinot Bianco Selezione 'Art' Weingut Abraham 2022
ArtisanalThe Pinot Bianco "Art" is a white wine of great elegance and softness made from ancient vines and aged for 24 months in oak barrels. On the nose, it has aromas of yellow-fleshed fruit, floral fragrances, spices, dried fruit, and toasted memories. On the palate, it is rich, refined, round, and complex, with precious freshness and appreciable minerality.
The “Art” labels from Weingut Abraham represent limited editions offered in a very small number of bottles, all numbered. The grapes for this exclusive production come from old vines that form the basis for mass selection, through which Martin and Marlies Abraham aim to preserve the different varieties of Pinot Bianco present in the vineyard and multiply them in the new plots. The symbol of the winery is the hoopoe, the bird with superb plumage that symbolizes freedom of thought.
The Pinot Bianco “Art” from Weingut Abraham originates in the area of the municipality of Appiano, a locality in the immediate vicinity of Bolzano and a renowned pearl of the South Tyrolean wine road. The old vines, about 60 years old, are cultivated using the traditional pergola method, in the plot called In der Lamm, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level and with an excellent and well-ventilated exposure to the west. The soil is of morainic nature, formed after the last glaciation and is composed mainly of volcanic gravel mixed with porphyries and quartz.part of volcanic gravel mixed with porphyries and quartz. The grapes are hand-harvested at full ripeness and subjected to a gentle pressing, with clarification of the must through natural sedimentation. Indigenous yeasts carry out the spontaneous fermentation in new 500-liter oak tonneaux. After the completion of malolactic fermentation, the wine ages in the same wood for 24 months.
The glass of Pinot Bianco “Art” made by Weingut Abraham presents itself with an intense golden yellow color. The nose immediately appreciates the subtle aromas of white flowers and the sweet trail of acacia honey and yellow-fleshed fruit, invigorated by the warmer nuances of aromatic herbs. The final tail displays intriguing spicy effluvia and almost smoky toasted memories. The tasting denotes a soft and smooth impact, reminiscent of ripe fruit: but soon the freshness reveals itself in all its liveliness and the definitive mark is impressed by the incredible sapidity, which makes the sip vertical like a blade and extends the persistence to infinity. A pairing above all: low-temperature salmon, avocado, and yogurt sauce.
