Pinot Nero Rosato 'Fallwind' San Michele Appiano 2025
The Pinot Noir Rosé "Fallwind" from San Michele Appiano is a rosé wine of great freshness and delicacy that originates from the vineyards in the municipality of Appiano. With a gentle extraction of the must and vinification and aging in steel, it yields a juicy, fruity expression with aromas of strawberry and berries, and a simple and smooth drinkability.
The Pinot Nero Rosato "Fallwind" from the San Michele Appiano winery is an Alto Adige wine produced from one of the oldest cultivated red grape varieties in the region that has acclimatized well to the pedoclimatic conditions of Alto Adige. It is produced using the Saignée method, which involves bleeding off juice from a red wine fermentation. This is an interpretation of rosé that generates rather structured wines with ripe and rich fruity aromas, typical of reds. The aging in steel preserves the fragrance of small red berry fruits, which give a soft and enveloping sip, well balanced by a pleasantly refreshing finish.
The Pinot Nero Rosé "Fallwind" wine is produced by one of the most well-known names in the Alto Adige landscape. San Michele Appiano is a cooperative winery founded in the early 1900s, which has embarked on a path aimed at enhancing the territory through high-quality wines. The estate covers a total of 380 hectares, divided into many small plots, that are managed by 340 contributing members. The ability to manage vineyards in different territories for altitude, exposure, and soil composition allows the winery to cultivate the varieties in the most suitable location. The style of the winery is linked to a very traditional idea of wine, which, starting from high-quality grapes, seeks to highlight the differences between the various terroirs.
The Rosato Pinot Nero "Fallwind" produced by the Alto Adige winery San Michele Appiano comes from grapes that come from vineyards aged between 10 and 30 years, cultivated on the hills around Appiano, characterized by gravelly soils of ancient morainic origin, with sunny exposures facing south, southeast, and southwest. At the end of the bleeding, practiced during the red wine fermentation of Pinot Nero, the must is fermented in steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine matures for a few months in concrete tanks. In the glass, it presents a rather intense pink color. The bouquet is rich and mature, with aromas of wild strawberries, currants, raspberries, and red berry fruits. The sip is full-bodied, juicy, and has a fresh finish with good persistence.
