The Pinot Nero Selezione “Art” by Weingut Abraham carries with it all the flavor of mountain wines, originating in Alto Adige near Appiano in the province of Bolzano. The winery is family-run and its work philosophy is entirely focused on sharing and enhancing the beauty that the Alto Adige territory has to offer: sustainability is the motto at the core of the winery's activity and to be so means working with humility and respect for the land, in order to enhance its characteristics that are then harmoniously reflected in the products. Daily work is a synergy between tradition and a constant gaze towards the future, thanks to the spontaneity and freshness that new generations bring to perpetuate the art of winemaking. The hoopoe is the symbol of the winery and represents a sense of responsibility and freedom of thought.
The pure Pinot Nero grapes of the Pinot Nero Selezione “Art” by Weingut Abraham come from vineyards that are about 25 years old, cultivated on mainly consisting of moraine debris from the last glaciation and porphyry stone rich in quartz. The territory is protected by the Alps to the north and to the south it is influenced by breezes coming from Lake Garda: the constant ventilation and exposure to the sun allows for excellent ripening of the grapes. The clusters are hand-selected in the vineyard and then placed in vats for spontaneous fermentation with slides to avoid damaging their integrity: about 30% is fermented as whole clusters, the rest is destemmed; it macerates for about three weeks with daily manual pump-overs of the pomace for better extraction of substances from the skins; it ages in oak barrels on the lees for 20 months after malolactic fermentation is completed. The Pinot Nero Selezione “Art” by Weingut Abraham presents itself in the glass with a bright ruby red color. The aromas recall raspberry, candied cherries, red blueberries, and underbrush. On the palate, the tannins appear well-structured, yet well-integrated, and on the finish reveals an unexpected freshness that provides balance and invites drinking. It
