Portugieser Daniel Sigmund 2022
Daniel Sigmund's Portugieser is a rare grape variety on the slopes of South Tyrol, a subtle red wine with great depth and finesse. The vines are between seventy and one hundred years old, rich in brilliant granite that contributes to creating an essential and low-extract wine. Partial whole bunch fermentation and long ageing in used barriques add essentiality and fruitiness. The nose reveals small red fruits, mountain herbs and light spicy notes typical of the grape variety, while the palate is fresh, slender and vertically savoury. It pairs well with cold cuts and mountain cuisine, such as speck and butter dumplings
