Red/White Sam Vinciullo 2020
ArtisanalSam Vinciullo's Red/White is a red wine made from a blend of Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc, two grapes that have adapted perfectly to the Margaret River Valley in Australia. Sam is a young winemaker who works in an artisanal manner and wants to produce fresh, immediate wines and this Red/White is aged only in the bottle. On the nose there are red and black fruit aromas, the Syrah contributes peppery hints and the Sauvignon with typical herbaceous hints. The palate is graceful and drinkable, juicy but very intense, fresh on the finish
The Red/White by Sam Vinciullo is born in Australia in the Margaret River region in Western Australia. The winery was opened by Sam in 2015 after completing his studies in oenology and having numerous formative experiences abroad, including in 2010 the meeting with Frank Cornelissen who made him discover the numerous potential of volcanic origin soils at the foot of Etna. The first production came from grapes bought from colleagues with whom he shares the work philosophy, that is to pamper the vineyards and respect their natural production phases; in 2017, however, he purchased 3 hectares of land where he began to cultivate his plants, thus giving life to his first bottles.
The vineyards of the Red/White by Sam Vinciullo extend over soils mainly composed of sand and gravel for an elegant and structured final product. The plants are aged between 21 and 34 years and are cultivated following the philosophy of minimal intervention in the vineyard: no systemic products, no synthetic chemicals or invasive pesticides to allow a respectful work of the surrounding ecosystem of the vineyards. The grape harvest is done manually and immediately follows a selection of the bunches so that the healthiest can arrive in the winery; in the winery, a spontaneous alcoholic fermentation takes place thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts first in plastic and then in cement.
The color of the Red/White by Sam Vinciullo is a pale red, due to the union of Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The aromas released recall berries such as raspberry, ripe plum, and spicy notes of black pepper and marjoram; on the palate it is juicy, elegant, and easy-drinking with a final freshness that invites glass after glass. It pairs perfectly with mixed cold cuts, white meat cooked in stew; interesting also with fish soups and fresh cow's milk cheeses. Produced for the family holiday table, enjoying in the glass the genuine flavors of a distant land, thus discovering all its intrinsic potential.
