The Tintilia “Lagena” by Angelo Uva is a red wine from Molise that highlights the importance of regional native varieties. The Tintilia is, in fact, a typical grape of the region, recently revived by eager producers wishing to elevate its quality level, giving rise to interesting products like this one from the Angelo Uva winery. A label with intense aromas, presenting a beautiful harmony between nose and mouth, where the memories of the olfactory analysis return. The “Lagena” Angelo Uva is a pure Tintilia, a low-yield native grape of Molise, which has recently been rediscovered and enhanced by willing winemakers. It grows in vineyards characterized by a clayey and calcareous subsoil, using the counter-espalier system with Guyot pruning. During vinification, a skin maceration is carried out for 10 days at a temperature of 25 degrees. The final aging lasts for 18months, and is carried out entirely in stainless steel tanks. After bottling, before being released for sale, the wine rests for a few more months in glass, to stabilize at its best.
The “Lagena” Tintilia develops in the glass with a beautiful ruby red color, crossed by slight violet hints that are clearly visible at the rim of the wine. The nose opens with delicate floral notes, enriched by Mediterranean and fruity puffs, while in the finish there is also a slight balsamic nuance. It enters the palate with lightness and liveliness, highlighting a good body and a wraparound sip with good tannins; it closes with a savory aftertaste. A label that highlights a native grape typical of the hilly areas of the Molise hinterland, reminding us how these varietals constitute the immense wine heritage that distinguishes Italian wine offerings from those of other European countries.
