Torbato 'Terre Bianche Cuvée 161' Sella & Mosca 2025
Unusual grapesThe Torbato "Terre Bianche Cuvée 161" is a still white wine born from the limestone soils of Alghero, aged in steel and in barrique. It has a Mediterranean bouquet of white flowers, citrus, and mature herbs that emerges from a soft, rich, fruity, and slightly toasted texture.
Torbato is a native Sardinian grape variety with late maturation, on which Sella & Mosca decided to bet from the very beginning, in a path aimed at the enhancement of the territory of Sardinia. This "Terre Bianche Cuvée 161" therefore represents the highest expression with which the winery interprets this grape, which grows within a terroir where the calcareous composition of the subsoil contributes to giving a light and "white" color to the soil. A bottle where the aromas start from floral notes, then express themselves with slightly more complex sensations, also thanks to the light aging in wood.
Sella & Mosca produces this "Terre Bianche Cuvée 161" starting from a native grape variety that the winery has always strongly focused on: Torbato. The vines grow in the surroundings of Alghero, within white soils rich in limestone. The grapes, after manual harvesting, undergo skin maceration and ferment in steel at low temperatures for about 20 days. Then follows the aging phase, which is carried out both in steel and in barrique, for a small part of the total mass of the wine.
The Torbato "Terre Bianche Cuvée 161" is a white wine that in the glass presents itself with a straw yellow color, crossed by shades tending to golden. Elegant and subtle sensations are felt on the nose, where the aromas are mainly floral, enriched by light touches of fruit and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied, smooth, characterized by a pleasant sip fresh and mineral; it ends with a slightly toasted aftertaste. A bottle that for Sella & Mosca is a true hymn to the Sardinian territory, and that pairs excellently with all those dishes where fish plays the leading role.
