The Viognier 'Mirlo' from the Tierra Savia winery is a fresh and aromatic Spanish wine, made from Viognier in the north of Andalusia. It impresses with its aromatic profile, ranging from notes of tropical fruit to citrus hints, and delicate touches of aromatic herbs, while on the palate it offers a lively, smooth sip, with beautiful acidity and minerality on the finish. The Viognier ‘Mirlo’ from Tierra Savia represents a fresh and accessible interpretation of this famous semi-aromatic French variety. The Viognier, which reaches its highest qualitative expression in the Northern Rhône, adapts well to Mediterranean climates like that of the Sierra Morena area in Andalusia, where the Tierra Savia winery operates. Here, the high altitudes allow for the preservation of the freshness and aromatic heritage of the grapes, enhancing the intense and fragrant aromas characteristic of the wine. The name ‘Mirlo’, meaning “blackbird” in Spanish, refers to the abundant presence of these birds in the vineyard from which the grapes come, which are kept away from the ripe bunches by a scarecrow named Piu.

‘Mirlo’ Tierra Savia Viognier is a pure expression of the homonymous grape variety grown under certified organic conditions on hilly soils characterized by the presence of clay and red slate, at altitudes between 600 and 900 meters above sea level. The plants are over 20 years old and the harvest is done by hand in mid-August. After destemming, the grapes undergo gentle pressing, with the resulting must undergoing alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The mass remains in steel to mature for about 4 months on the fine lees and after an additional 2 months of aging in the bottle, the wine is ready for market release.

The ‘Mirlo’ Viognier from Tierra Savia is straw yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, sensations of tropical fruit and white peach merge with citrus hints and aromatic herbs. Fresh and smooth on the palate, characterized by pleasant mineral, savory, and aromatic perceptions on the finish.
