The Blanc de Blancs by Contratto is a sparkling wine Alta Langa with an elegant and dry profile, aged for 4 years on the lees. It is characterized by a very refined bouquet, composed of notes of citrus, white flowers, dried fruit, apple, and light mineral nuances. On the palate, it shows a soft, clean, and chiseled texture, with intense structure and lively freshness.
The Alta Langa Blanc de Blancs Pas Dosé by Contratto can be defined as the Piedmontese answer to the sparkling wines from across the Alps. A wine with a tenacious and precise character, just like the people fortunate enough to create such a fascinating product. The same label, which recalls those used for marketing during the 1920s, depicts a joyful girl who, with a dancing spirit, venerates the glass filled with the precious sparkling wine.
The Alta Langa Blanc de Blancs by Contratto is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes in vineyards that take root in sandy, stony soils with marine sediments. At the beginning of September, the harvest begins, carried out by hand, paying particular attention to the selection and care of the fruits based on the location of the various parcels. Once the work moves to the winery, the bunches are cooled before undergoing a soft pressing to obtain the free-run must. After the first fermentation, the base wines are left to mature in steel tanks until the following May; once this period is over, the blending and bottling process begins.for the second fermentation which, like the first, occurs using only indigenous natural yeasts. The production process concludes with a maturation on the lees lasting about 48 months.
The Contratto Alta Langa Blanc de Blancs Pas Dosé shows all its regal elegance with a brilliant straw yellow and a fine perlage of infinite persistence. On the nose, the notes of grapefruit and mandarin blend with the crispness of white peach and the tenacity of flint. Jasmine proudly leads the notes of wildflowers that complete the olfactory picture of this exuberant sparkling Chardonnay. On the palate, one is struck by the precise and square structure of the aromas that consistently reappear after having caressed the sense of smell. The bubbles that tickle the tongue make persistence a hallmark of this sparkling wine from Langa. Excellent as an aperitif and with delicate fish dishes.
