The Sparkling Rosé Alta Langa "For England" is an un-dosed sparkling wine of great refinement, delicacy, and class, dedicated to the first dry Classic Method wines produced in the early 1900s by the Contratto winery and particularly appreciated by the English. Delicate notes of berries, pomegranate, pink grapefruit, and light mineral accents meet on an elegant and rich structure, with creamy bubbles and a pleasant and precise sip
The Alta Langa Rosé “For England” by Contratto is a Classic Method Pas Dosé fresh and elegant, which on the label recalls the English preference of the early twentieth century for dry sparkling wines. It is made in the hilly area of southern Piemonte, which rises towards the first mountainous elevations, using pure Pinot Noir grapes. Thanks to a cool, always ventilated microclimate and soils of calcareous-clay marls with the presence of sands and marine fossils, the Burgundy grape variety produces perfect grapes for sparkling wine production. Like all rosés, it presents a good aromatic richness, characterized especially by refined citrus aromas, small red berry fruits, accompanied by clear mineral sensations.
The Classic Method Rosé “For England” is produced by one of the most historically rich Italian sparkling wine houses. The Contratto winery was founded in 1867 and by 1919 it had already produced the first Italian Classic Method Pas Dosé Vintage sparkling wine using Moscato Bianco grapes. It followed the fashion of the time, dictated by the preference of English consumers for dry sparkling wines, which was also changing the face of Champagne. Today, the Classic Method is produced under the Alta Langa denomination, thanks to the acquisition of about forty hectares near Bossolasco, in the Langhe area that stretches towards the first mountain ranges at the border with Liguria. It is a Classic Method that synthesizes the ancient tradition of the winery, with one of the Italian sparkling wine denominations experiencing the most qualitative growth and gaining approval among the most discerning and evolved consumers.
The Rosé “For England” by Contratto is a Classic Method Pas Dosé produced with the best grapes from a historic vineyard of about 40 years, cultivated at over 700 meters above sea level, with sunny exposure facing south, southeast. The grapes are gently pressed at low temperature, with a brief contact with the skins. At the end of vinification, the vins clairs rest for a few months before the creation of the blend. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the Classic Method, with a rest sur lattes of at least 48 months. In the glass, it presents a pale pink color with slight and bright coppery reflections. The perlage is fine and delicate. The bouquet is characterized by aromas of pink grapefruit, citrus, pomegranate, raspberry, red currant, and fresh almond. The sip is of great finesse, with a very delicate and subtle fruit. The finish is of lively citrus freshness, crossed by a savory and mineral vein. An excellent alternative for those who want to discover an interesting label outside the most famous sparkling wine areas.
