Amaro Camatti is a Ligurian speciality named best bitter in the world by the World Liqueur Awards. Its iconic red bottle, a Genoese emblem, conceals unmistakable aromas and an ancient recipe dating back to 1924, handed down with passion by the Distilleria Cinque Terre. Handcrafted with an infusion of selected herbs and vegetables, it offers an unforgettable experience to coincide with after-dinner drinks or to accompany sea voyages.

Amaro Camatti represents the product that has made Distilleria Sangallo Cinque Terre famous more than any other, an amaro that strikes immediately for its balanced and expressive character. It is an ancient Genoese liqueur whose original recipe was created back in 1924 by the Livorno chemist Umberto Briganti, who developed the liqueur together with his brother Cesare in the Ligurian town of Recco, naming it in honor of his beloved wife, whose surname was indeed Camatti.

The preparation of Amaro Camatti begins with the selection of flowers, herbs, and aromatic roots, ingredients that are infused according to a secret recipe kept for generations and based on artisanal processes. Among these stand out the almond tree, gentian, cinchona, bitter orange, and mint. The maceration process is studied and adapted based on the characteristics of each botanical, and the infusion is then left to decant in barrels or stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a filtration operation aimed at eliminating any impurities. At this point, one proceeds with the addition of a syrup of water and sugar, and the amaro is finally ready for bottling and subsequent marketing.

To the eye, Amaro Camatti expresses a bright amber color. The aromatic range opens up to intense bitter notes of cinchona and gentian, soon reached by sweet hints of amaretto and fresh scents of orange peel. On the palate, it is rich and dynamic at the same time, balancing the softness of the body with the characteristic bitter sensations that accompany the persistent finish. An amaro to enjoy as a digestive after a meal or as an aperitif, alone with a few ice cubes or in mixology to create innovative cocktails revisiting the great classics.
