The Bitter "Roger" is an artisanal product, born from a skillful selection and choice of typical botanicals from Calabria, carried out by the Vecchio Magazzino Doganale, located in Montalto Uffugo, north of Cosenza. It is produced according to an ancient recipe, which involves the use of grain alcohol, wheat, corn, and barley, along with a series of botanical infusions. The mother infusion is based on Gentian, Quassia, and Coriander, while the separate infusions are prepared using a a wide range of botanicals, which with their particular aromas enrich the complexity of the bitter: Bergamot from Roccella Ionica, Bitter Oranges from Bisignano, IGP Lemon from Rocca Imperiale, China, Gentian, Quassia, and Carlina. The final result is harmonious, but also decisive, dry, and persistent.
The “Roger” Vecchio Magazzino Doganale is a suitable choice for those who prefer bitters with a dry, deep, and strong personality, thanks to the use of Calabrian citrus fruits and local botanicals, which enhance its territorial character. In the glass, it has a rather intense and dark red color, with a slightly cloudy appearance due to the lack of filtration.
