The Bronner by Elena Walch is a white wine produced in Alto Adige with one of the resistant or PIWI grape varieties, among the most promising and interesting in terms of quality. A variety that is proving particularly suitable for cultivation even at medium-high altitudes. Thanks to the choice not to use wood, the wine retains a straightforward varietal profile, characterized by the classic freshness of mountain wines, combined with intense and rich fruit.
The white Bronner represents one of the latest challenges of Elena Walch, one of the most prominent names among producers in Alto Adige and already a great interpreter of the territory of the Termeno area. The PIWI grape varieties were created from crosses between the European vitis vinifera and the Asian “amurensis” vines, in order to have a plant that produces grapes suitable for winemaking and at the same time is resistant to fungal diseases. The great advantage of resistant grape varieties lies precisely in the possibility of not treating the vineyard or minimizing treatments and being able to practice healthy and respectful agriculture of the surrounding environment.respectful of the surrounding environment. The grapes are gently pressed and after a static decantation, the free-run must is started for fermentation with selected yeasts in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 20 °C. The wine matures for six months on its own yeasts in inox containers before being bottled.
The Bronner produced by Elena Walch is a white wine to try to discover the typical and peculiar characteristics of this resistant grape variety. In the glass, it presents a beautiful bright straw yellow with subtle greenish reflections. On the nose, it opens with aromas of white fruit, green apple, pear, and peach, notes of grass and wildflowers, and delicate spicy nuances. The sip is particularly fresh and inviting, with harmonious fruity aromas, accompanied by savory sensations that stretch towards a balanced and persistent finish.
