Chardonnay Marjan Simcic 2025

The Chardonnay by Marian Simcic is a wine that combines richness and sapidity of the grape variety with the depth conferred by the brief maceration on the skins. Collio, a legendary wine region that divides Italy and Slovenia and home to some of the best Italian winemakers. It is here that we find Marjan Simcic, who has been managing the family winery since 1988, which has deep roots with over a century and a half of history. 18 hectares of vineyard, divided between Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Ribolla, and Pinot Noir, which share the common denominator of giving life to original yet always three-dimensional expressions endowed with extreme elegance, just like this ‘Selekcija’. Try it to believe it!

The white from Simcic comes from the selection of the best Chardonnay bunches, harvested from vines aged between 27 and 50 years that rest on calcareous-marl soils. All winemaking processes take place with the utmost respect for the raw material, therefore after a manual harvest, the process continues in the winery with spontaneous fermentation in truncated cone-shaped wooden tanks. The liquid is aged for 6 months in steel. No clarification or filtration

The Chardonnay Simcic reveals itself in the glass with an intense yellow hue edged with golden reflections. The nose is of great opulence and definition, where hints of pineapple and banana first appear, followed by notes of apple and, in the second instance, hints of dried fruit and saline puffs. The sip is filling, the liquid takes possession of the palate and coats it due to its soft and enveloping texture. Never seated and tired, sapidity and slight tannic friction significantly elongate the sip and enliven it. Great hand and great bottle!
