Encruzado e Arinto Quinta da Serradinha 2023
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamic"Encruzado and Arinto" from the Quinta da Serradinha winery 2019 is a white wine named after the two grape varieties that compose it. Once the grapes are destemmed, they are left to macerate for 5 days and, after fermentation, it ages for 12 months in used wooden barrels. Not undergoing any type of filtration or clarification, this label has an intense straw yellow color and a harmonious sip characterized by aromas of mango and mineral hints.
Quinta da Serradinha introduces ‘Encruzado e Arinto’, an exotic and mineral Portuguese orange wine capable of reinterpreting the characteristic expressive richness of the type in a more dynamic and fluid way. Quinta da Serradinha was one of the first Lusitanian wineries to obtain organic certification in 1994, despite the humid oceanic climate that favors the proliferation of pathogens. In the Leiria area, whose ancient winemaking tradition dates back to Ancient Rome, the Marques da Cruz family has been cultivating the region's vines for 5 generations, vinifying them in a traditional manner. Each label features a ladybug, which is also embossed on the surface of the corks.
The macerated white Quinta da Serradinha ‘Encruzado e Arinto’ comes from a blend of Encruzado (85%) and Arinto (15%), grown on clay and limestone soils in accordance with the principles of certified organic farming. Once the harvest is completed, the grapes are destemmed and then placed to ferment in open wooden vats, with 5 days of maceration on the skins. This is followed by a maturation period of 12 months in 228-liter wooden barrels.
In the glass, ‘Encruzado e Arinto’ from Quinta da Serradinha expresses a bright straw-yellow hue. The olfactory profile is painted with notes of yellow-fleshed exotic fruits, such as mango and papaya, as well as fresh balsamic scents and mineral perceptions. Intense on the palate, with excellent fresh-savory drive that rests on a long and harmonious finish. A macerated white wine with a territorial and spontaneous character, ideal pairing with seafood dishes like the traditional polvo à Lagareiro, a delicious roasted octopus served with baked potatoes.
