Grecanico Oscar Bissinger 2022
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicThe Grecanico by Oscar Bissinger is a white wine with a straightforward and crisp character. Made in the Palermo area from thirty-year-old vines located on clay soils, it is a wine with beautiful ripe fruit and balsamic notes, adorned with accents of Mediterranean herbs. To produce it, Oscar uses only indigenous yeasts for fermentation and no other oenological artifices, resulting in a "marine" and fresh wine to pair with fish-based first and second courses.
The Grecanico from the young producer of Swedish origin Oscar Bissinger is a Sicilian white wine with a pure marine essence, made in the Monreale area through a genuine production vision. Grecanico, also known as Grecanico Dorato, is an indigenous white grape variety from Sicily, widespread throughout the island, from Etna to the province of Trapani. The origins of the grape are very ancient, although still not entirely clear today, probably dating back to the time of Magna Grecia, from which the name Grecanico derives. Recently, a relationship with the Venetian grape Garganega has been confirmed, although in terms of the characteristics of the wines produced, Grecanico is more reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc.
Oscar Bissinger Grecanico is an expression of the eponymous white grape variety cultivated under certified organic regime on clay soils. Following manual harvesting, there is mechanical destemming of the bunches, a light skin maceration, and then soft pressing. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks in a completely spontaneous manner, through the action of the only yeasts present on the grapes and in the winemaking environment. The subsequent aging phase, which lasts for 12 months, takes place in steel, and throughout the entire production process, both the use of clarification operations and the use of enological additives are excluded, except for minimal quantities of sulfites, added when necessary.
The Grecanico by Oscar Bissinger has a light golden yellow color. The nose expresses sensations of ripe apple and pear, Mediterranean herbs, and eucalyptus, surrounded by evocative memories of iodine. Direct and lively taste development, characterized by a crunchy freshness and a distinct savory-mineral verve that brings back the marine essence of this wine.
