'Habemus - Etichetta Nera' San Giovenale 2022
Artisanal"Habemus Nero" is a red wine with a concentrated, rich, and robust taste made from Syrah grapes from the Viterbo area. It is aged for 30 months in barrique, giving the nose a mature and broad aromatic profile, composed of notes of red fruit in spirit, cherry jam, peppery hints, sweet spices, and a toasted trail of cocoa and coffee. On the palate, it is powerful, warm, and elegant, with a soft and firm structure, and a long persistence.
The Habemus “Etichetta Nera” signed by San Giovenale is a powerful and deep expression of pure Syrah, capable of competing blind with the great wines of the Rhône. San Giovenale is undoubtedly one of the most interesting wineries in Tuscia, and the oenological consultancy of Marco Casolanetti, already owner of Oasi Degli Angeli, has given the produced liquids a defined and recognizable stylistic connotation. Hence the decision to focus on international grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache, Marsanne, and Roussane, which adapt splendidly and are cultivated with extremely low yields, producing powerful and concentrated wines, characterized by structure and fullness of fruit that, however, do not lose definition and finesse. Beautiful bottles right from the start, but capable of renewing themselves with aging in the cellar, as only great wines know how to do.
The “Etichetta Nera” Habemus is produced with pure Syrah grapes, coming from plants at least 10 years old trained as bush vines at 380 meters above sea level, resting on clay soils rich in skeleton. In the vineyard an approach is followed aimed at the least possible intervention, adopting choices with a very low environmental impact. In the cellar, the process continues consistently, with strictly spontaneous alcoholic fermentations and, regarding the black label, with aging of 30 months in barrique.
The Habemus Nero wine presents itself in the glass with an intense and bright garnet color. Deep and at the same time delicious nose, characterized by hints of cocoa, ripe plum, cinnamon, black pepper, and coffee, although a particularly well-trained taster might find many other aromas. Powerful sip, concentrated and of great softness that drags into an extremely long persistent finish. Sculpted and noble red.
