The Amphoreus by Paraschos is a brilliant and forward-looking expression of Malvasia Istriana from 90-year-old vines. A white wine macerated on the skins that ferments and ages for 12 months in Cretan terracotta amphorae. An intoxicating and eclectic nose prepares the palate for a full, juicy, mineral, and very long sip.

The Malvasia Amphoreus by Paraschos is an exciting and deep orange wine, a perfect synthesis of salt, fruit, and freshness. A true jewel, this Malvasia Istriana, although it does not surprise much since any grape variety in the hands of Paraschos transforms into a unique and engaging expression. We are in San Floriano del Collio, a municipality in Gorizia already known for the quality and spontaneity of the wines produced here, and there are 6 hectares of family-run vineyards owned by Evangelos and his sons. Natural balance and respect have allowed, since 2003, the abandonment of any chemical substance to achieve a single goal: to provide a sincere narrative regarding grape and territory. The results speak for themselves: once tasted, you never go back. A watershed.

The Amphoreus wine is made from pure Malvasia grapes, sourced from very old vines over 90 years old from the Lucinico and Sant'Andrea vineyards. The plants are not treated with any chemical substances, a philosophy shared by many local producers, and in the winery, we continue with spontaneous fermentation that takes place in terracotta amphora. Aging of 12 months in terracotta amphora with skin maceration, without the wine being filtered or clarified.

Amphoreus Malvasia fills the glass with its hypnotic amber hue, edged with orange reflections. The nose has an almost boundless and uncontrollable reach, although it always expresses itself with gradualness and finesse. Apricot, peach, white and yellow flowers, mineral puffs, wild herbs: the number of descriptors could expand infinitely! On the palate, the liquid reveals the texture of true champions, also a result of the old vines, combining breadth, softness, and a prodigious salinity that extends its persistence immensely. Sparkling and almost otherworldly. Supernova
