Peloro Rosso Le Casematte 2023
The Peloro Rosso from Le Casematte is a Sicilian red wine aged in steel and that undergoes a brief passage in wood, elastic and with great freshness on the palate. Notes of underbrush fruits, licorice, and spicy hints are perceived, instead, on the nose
The Peloro Rosso Le Casematte is a Sicilian wine that has managed to carve out an important space in blends based on indigenous red grape varieties from Sicily in just a few years. We are faced with a bottle that impresses especially for the freshness it expresses on the palate, while the nose tells a story with a dance of fruity and floral notes seasoned with a few spicier hints. A deeply territorial label that never disappoints.
This Peloro Rosso is made by the Le Casematte winery starting from a blend of Nerello Mascalese – present in the final blend with 70% – and Nocera, a variety that is ampelographically very close to Nerello, traditionally cultivated right in Sicily. Among the rows, where the subsoil presents a calcareous-sandy matrix, the two varieties are cultivated according to principles that refer to organic farming. The must obtained from the gentle pressing of the grapes ferments in stainless steel tanks. The production process ends with a maturation of 16 months in steel, followed by a quick passage in wood; once the aging is complete, the wine is ready for be bottled and put on the market.
Le Casematte Peloro Rosso presents itself visually with a particularly bright ruby color, endowed with a beautiful light. The range of notes on the nose highlights a fruity texture, enriched by more floral references from which a background centered on spices emerges. It enters the palate with excellent smoothness, highlighting a harmonious sip with a fresh taste, where a dynamic and interesting tannic grip is asserted. A label that has traced an important qualitative path in recent vintages, achieving remarkable scores in the main national and international trade magazines.
