Pinot Nero Cantina Terlano 2025
The Pinot Noir from Cantina Terlano is a red wine that expresses the elegance of the Alto Adige territory through notes of small red fruits, such as currants, blackberries, and mulberries, and licorice. On the palate, it is refined, with light tannins, mineral notes, and fruity returns.
The Pinot Nero from Cantina di Terlano is an Alto Adige wine that interprets in the sign of freshness and elegance the best varietal qualities of the noble Burgundy grape. Pinot Nero has been present for centuries in Alto Adige where it has adapted very well, expressing the best Italian versions of this refined red in these lands. The brief passage in large barrels makes the wine harmonious and complex, without altering its classic varietal profile. Thus, the delicate aromas of small berries and the characteristic freshness of mountain wines remain in the foreground, making the sip particularly smooth and appealing.
The Pinot Nero wine is produced by a historic reality of the Alto Adige territory. The Cantina di Terlano has a tradition of over a century and manages the grapes from the vineyards of over 140 member growers, who own small plots in particularly suited areas around Terlano, at the foot of Mount Tschöggel, on soils predominantly made up of ancient volcanic porphyry and sandstones. The sunny exposures, which reach an altitude of 650 meters, allow for significant temperature variations between day and night, which are very important for achieving slow ripening and grapes rich in scents and aromas. The philosophy of the winery is aimed at enhancing the peculiarities of the territory and especially of the individual crus, in order to find the most suitable cultivation site for each grape variety. Thanks to the work of Rudi Kofler, the Pinot Nero perfectly expresses the characteristics of the Terlano area, with a strongly territorial personality, linked to the cool alpine climate.
The Pinot Nero Terlano is born from the grapes of the vineyards cultivated above the village, particularly on the Monticolo plateau, where they benefit from a sunny south-facing exposure and cool evenings with constant ventilation. At the end of the manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed and fermented at controlled temperatures in steel tanks. The wine then matures for a period of 7-10 months in large barrels. The color is bright and luminous ruby red. On the nose, it opens with elegant aromas of currant, blackberry, blueberry, hints of underbrush, and nuances of licorice root. On the palate, it has a medium structure, with complex and delicate aromas, that stretch harmoniously towards a finish of lively freshness, characterized by a clear mineral vein. Refined and subtle, it is a Pinot Noir entirely played on aromatic facets and the lightness of the sip.
