It reveals a savory and young sip, slightly tannic with a fresh body, pleasantly bitter.
The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso from Feudi di Romans is a Friulian wine, originating from the lands of Isonzo, the southern area of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is made from the homonymous indigenous grape variety, cultivated for centuries in this area and a descendant of Marzemino, another great grape from our Triveneto. This wine has a typically varietal profile, highlighting the strong character, good tannic structure, and expressive fruit of a rich and generous grape. The choice of aging in large barrels helps to soften some youthful sharpness of the Refosco, making the wine more harmonious and balanced, but without altering its unmistakable personality.
The Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso wine is produced by one of the most representative wineries in the Isonzo area. The Feudi di Romans project was born in the 1950s, when few believed in the potential of this territory for quality viticulture. Today, the estate includes 90 hectares of vineyards, which have been planted on lean and very draining soils.of river origin, predominantly composed of sands, pebbles, and gravels, with some components of flysch. The production is aimed at enhancing the classic grape varieties of the region, characterized by a clear territorial matrix. The soils and climate differ from those of the Collio and Colli Orientali areas, giving the wines a profile that stands out for its particular expressive finesse and great varietal typicity. The character of the grape is preserved even during careful vinifications and aging processes, which are almost always carried out in steel or large barrels.
The Refosco Feudi di Romans is a version that is very respectful of the typicity of the grape variety, which expresses itself with particular elegance in these lands. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with a maceration on the skins for about a dozen days. The wine then rests for 8 months in Slavonian oak barrels. In the glass, it has a ruby red color with youthful violet hues. On the nose, it is intense and rich, with aromas of blackberry, small dark berry fruits, hints of humus, underbrush, wild herbs, and spicy nuances. On the palate, it has a good structure, supported by a dense and lively tannic texture and a juicy fruit center. The finish is long and persistent, with a pleasant almond note.
