The Rum 'Centenario' Flor de Caña 25 Years represents an expression of rum from Nicaragua with rare complexity and concentration. The Pellas family, of Genoese origin, moved to Nicaragua in 1890, starting the cultivation of sugar cane. In 1937, the family built the first independent distillery, thus laying the foundations for the birth of the Flor de Caña brand, now appreciated worldwide for the highest quality of its rums. The 'Centenario' line was launched on the market to celebrate 100 years since the Pellas started the first sugar cane plantations.
The Flor de Caña Rum 'Centenario' 25 Years is made from molasses of sugar cane grown in Nicaragua, fermented for 36 hours using specially selected yeasts. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mash is distilled up to 5 times using a continuous multi-column method according to Spanish tradition, also exclusively using renewable energy. Subsequently, the rum is aged for ageing for 25 long years in ex-bourbon wooden barrels of 135 liters, sealed with dried local plantain leaves. The maturation takes place in the tropical climate of Nicaragua, in warehouses located at the base of the San Cristobal volcano, where thanks to the shade of the forest and the roof covering, the temperature remains between 26-28 °C. Throughout the entire production process, the addition of sugars, caramel, and artificial or accelerating ingredients is excluded.
The color of the Rum 'Centenario' Flor de Caña 25 Years is intense amber. On the nose, intoxicating aromas of tropical fruit, cane sugar, dried fruit, and walnut husk emerge, enriched by hints of wax and fine woods. Taste elegant and enveloping, of extraordinary richness, with an almost infinite persistence of the sweet and fruity sensations perceived on the nose.
