Clairin Communal is an ancestral white rum from Haiti, produced from pure sugar cane juice and bottled by Velier blending four different local spirits. Compared to the other labels of this typology, this is more balanced and delicate, with typical exotic notes of banana leaves

The Clairin Communal comes from the union of four distillates from the island of Haiti, handcrafted from pure sugarcane juice. It is the ancestral white agricultural rum of the local population, discovered and enhanced by the distribution company Velier within the project The Spirit of Haiti, which has developed this blend for those approaching this fascinating, wild, and ancestral world for the first time. The discovery of ancient local production traditions and the desire to enhance the value of the many distiller artisan producers, whose work risks disappearing in the modern globalized world, has also led Slow Food to award this product the title of Slow Food Sentinel.

This Rum Clairin is made from distillates of small local producers that Velier considers true artisan artists, coming from four different municipalities in Haiti: Barraderes, Cavaillon, Pignon, and Saint Michel. All four distillates come from an ancient and primitive production method: the cultivation of sugarcane is done in polycultures without the use of pesticides or chemical products; harvesting and cutting are done manually with machetes; the fermentation of the juice is wild, that is, spontaneous, using only natural yeasts and the distillation is conducted with small discontinuous stills and direct fire, a legacy of French colonization.

The Communal Clairin maintains all the most typical characteristics of the Haitian traditional distillate but, being born from a blend, it is particularly smooth and delicate compared to other products of this type and is excellent for preparing particular cocktails and exotic long drinks. The aromas are unique and very typical, reminiscent of banana leaves and freshly cut field herbs, with slight nuances of ripe exotic fruit and sugarcane. On the palate, it is round, warm, enveloping, and pleasant, with unmistakable wild and Caribbean tones.
