Organic and biodynamicThe Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore “Limbecca” is a very territorial red wine, vinified and aged only in steel. Hints of cherries, berries, red flowers, and delicate spices animate a sip of good structure, dry and fruity, with lively tannins and a rustic, satisfying character
The Limbecca by Paolo Francesconi is a Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore that embodies the most authentic and earthy spirit of the type. Due to its excellent balance, smooth drinkability, and rustic and pleasant expressiveness, it is often cited by critics and industry guides as one of the most interesting and unmissable examples of Sangiovese di Romagna, as well as one of the most representative labels of winemaker Paolo Francesconi, a pioneer of organic farming in the Romagna area since the early 1990s.
The Sangiovese di Romagna "Limbecca" takes its name from the toponym recorded in the land registry documents of 1780, corresponding to the confined Apennine territory where Paolo Francesconi's vineyards now stand, located about 5 km from the town of Faenza, in the province of Ravenna. The vines have been cultivated organically since 1992, respecting biodynamic practices including cover cropping, cow manure, and natural preparations. In the winery, the grapes are crushed and destemmed, and the must ferments spontaneouslywith indigenous yeasts on the skins in steel tanks for about 8 days. The production process then includes 6 months of aging in steel and at least 12 months of resting in the bottle. Adhering to a production philosophy based on respect for the territory and the vintage, as well as on the authenticity and integrity of the grape variety, translates into a distinctive and pleasant rustic imprint that makes the sip dynamic and satisfying.
The Sangiovese "Limbecca" by Paolo Francesconi presents itself in a ruby red color with purple hues. On the nose, delightful and intoxicating aromas of red flowers, fresh sour cherries, cherries, and berries emerge, against a delicately wild and earthy background, indicative of territorial authenticity. On the palate, it proves to be consistent, fresh, juicy, fruity, and dry, with lively and slightly biting tannins. It is a flavorful and satisfying red, highly gastronomic in nature, the perfect companion for the table, especially when abundantly set with cured meats, cold cuts, and other regional specialties.
