Callmewine's FavouritesThe Tuscan Red 'Il Senziente' Magnum by Podere Ranieri is a red wine composed of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese, with the desire that each of these grape varieties can show, in combination with the other two, its character, its history, its expressiveness. On the palate, it is enveloping, warm, and velvety, and on the nose, it releases fruity aromas accompanied by pleasant spicy nuances: a perfect wine to pair with dishes from Tuscan cuisine!
Podere Ranieri introduces the Tuscan Red ‘Il Senziente’, a bottle, here in Magnum format, capable of summarizing the passionate and artisanal philosophy of the estate. The same name expresses the idea of the wine of the Ranieri family, according to which this magical beverage should be alive and “sensitive” indeed. To best interpret the territory of Maremma Toscana, Michele Ranieri chose to accompany the traditional Sangiovese grape with the international varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which have perfectly adapted to the pedoclimatic conditions of the region.
‘Il Senziente’ Tuscan Red Podere Ranieri Magnum comes from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. The vines are located 60 meters above sea level in the territory of Massa Marittima, where the soils are composed of silt and sand with a significant presence of clay and gravel. In the winery, the freshly hand-picked grapes in crates are pressed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, accompanied by a few weeks of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is completed, the mass is transferred to 300-liter tonneaux where it matures for about 12 months, followed by an additional year of aging in the bottle.
The Tuscan Red ‘Il Senziente’ Magnum from Podere Ranieri is of intense ruby red color. Hints of red fruits, strawberry jam, plum, and aromatic herbs overlap on the nose along with nuances of black pepper and tobacco. The tasting, warm and soft, reveals excellent freshness and silky tannins that lead to a long and flavorful spicy persistence. A red that pairs excellently with traditional dishes from Maremma Toscana such as tortelli with wild boar ragù.
