The renowned Lucanian wine reality Cantine del Notaio presents the Aglianico del Vulture ‘Il Repertorio’, a bottle that aims to reveal the most accessible face of this black grape variety, while not skimping on breadth and depth. The official foundation of Cantine del Notaio dates back to 1998, when Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti decided to leave his profession as an agronomist to dedicate himself full-time to the family vineyards. From that moment on, the estate has established itself as one of the most important production realities in all of Basilicata, a region enhanced through a single great grape variety: the Aglianico del Vulture. It is also unique to name the bottles with notarial terms, a profession practiced by Gerardo's father.
The Aglianico del Vulture ‘Il Repertorio’ by Cantine del Notaio is a 100% Aglianico grown on volcanic soils, particularly rich in mineral substances, with the presence of tuff at depth. The vines, cultivated through an eco-sustainable agronomic approach, are located between 430 and 600 meters above
sea level. The harvest is carried out by hand in crates during the second or third decade of October, and the bunches are then pressed in stainless steel tanks for controlled temperature alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by about 10 days of maceration on the skins. The subsequent maturation phase, which lasts for a year, takes place in French oak barrels located inside the magnificent volcanic tuff caves of the winery.‘Il Repertorio’ Aglianico del Vulture Cantine del Notaio has a bright ruby red color. The aromatic profile consists of fruity and floral notes of currant, sour cherry, and dog rose, accompanied by spicy, mineral, and Mediterranean herb hints. Warm and tannic in taste, supported by lively freshness and a persistent saline trail.
