Vajra

The Freisa  "Kyè" is a red wine from Piedmont with great personality and typicity that ages for 12-18 months in Slavonian oak barrels and barriques. The aromatic range is of fine complexity, with intense red berry notes and long trails of white pepper and tobacco. Freshness and softness alternate well on the palate, with a long persistent finish

FREISA 'KYÈ' VAJRA 2021 DESCRIPTION

The Freisa "Kyè" by Vajra is the full redemption of this Piedmontese vine too often forgotten in the face of other great classics from Piedmont Nebbiolo grape. A philosophy already present in the name; Kyè, is "Who is?"; a name that embodies the natural surprised to find, as he likes to say Giuseppe Vajra, this rare variety in its most profound. Freisa vine is of ancient origin; just think that there are documents about that date back to the sixteenth century, while towards the end of the eighteenth century we find the first description of Freisa, placed by Count Giuseppe Nuvolone-Pergamon, director of the Experimental of the Royal Agricultural Society of Turin, between black grapes Piedmont notch. Vajra, a historic and important in the Langhe, has decided to propose a new version of Freisa, more modern, but still linked to traditions. Traditions made by a deep bond with the Nebbiolo, but characterized by a difficulty of cultivation and yield certainly greater. The Freisa "Kyè" by Vajra born from Vineyard San Ponzio, in the town of Barolo, of vineyards placed between 390 and 410 meters above sea level, on a soil rich in clay; a soil that guarantees a wine with a beautiful structure, fueled by a rather long fermentation which transfers the tannins from the grape to wine. The aging lasted for 12-18 months partly in oak casks and partly in barriques further transformed this Freisa that shows a deep ruby red color and which now offers intense and complex notes of red berries, tobacco , rose and white pepper. We are facing a great Piedmont red wine that shows itself in all its charm and finally rediscovers not be less than the other great Piedmontese red wines...
