Gran Malbec Vinos de Potrero 2021
The Gran Malbec de Potrero is an intense, elegant, and smooth Argentine red wine, made from the best selected grapes from Gualtallary, at the foot of Mount Tupungato southwest of Mendoza, where the vine reaches an altitude of 1350 meters. It has a gritty, round, and robust character, lightened by a precious freshness and a floral and aromatic bouquet, with hints of oriental spices and memories of vanilla. Ideal to enjoy with a cut of Argentine Asado!
The Gran Malbec from the Argentine bodega Vinos de Potrero represents a rich and full expression that faithfully reflects the characteristics that Malbec assumes in Mendoza. It is a selection of the best grapes from the estate vineyards located in Gualtallary, a wine-growing subzone of the Uco Valley situated at the foot of the Andes mountain range, which gives rise to some of the most refined labels in all of Argentina. In fact, once considered excessively cold, today Gualtallary is establishing itself as one of the most appreciated wine territories in the country thanks to its ability to meet the demand of a market increasingly oriented towards fine, fresh, and fragrant wines.
Vinos de Potrero Gran Malbec is produced from a selection of the best grapes of the eponymous Bordeaux black grape variety, grown on predominantly calcareous soils at a height of over 1,350 meters. Following the harvest, a cold maceration is carried out for 5 days before the alcoholic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks and eggs, with the extraction techniques that are adapted from time to time depending on the vintage. Subsequently, the wine is transferred to first and second passage oak barrels where it ages for 12 months before bottling.
In the glass, the Argentine wine Gran Malbec Vinos de Potrero reveals an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. Aromas of ripe dark fruit, red flowers, and sweet spices dominate the nose, accompanied by pleasant sensations of noble woods. A sip characterized by material richness, enveloping warmth and broad structure, balanced by pleasant freshness and silky tannins. A full-bodied and characterful Argentine Malbec, perfect pairing with particularly spicy braised red meats.
