GRAPPA DI AMARONE INVECCHIATA CAMERANI - CORTE SANT'ALDA - 50CL DESCRIPTION

Grappa di vinaccia di Amarone Invecchiata is a complex and intense distillate that was born from the collaboration between Marinella Camerani's Corte Sant'Alda estate and Bruno Franceschini's distillery. Grappa is a typical distillate from northern Italy that is usually obtained by distilling the marc from the racking of red wines, often fine wines such as Amarone della Valpolicella. The origin of name derives from the Lombard dialect term 'grapa', meaning the stalk of the grape, and therefore has nothing to do with Mount Grappa and the municipality of Bassano del Grappa. Depending on how it is processed, grappa can then be subdivided into different types, including 'Invecchiata', which is aged for a minimum of 12 months in wooden barrels.

Camerani - Corte Sant'Alda Grappa di vinaccia di Amarone Invecchiata is made from the marc of Amarone, which is delivered still warm and steaming, after a light pressing, to the Franceschini Bruno distillery. Here, the distillation process is carried out in the traditional still, consisting of small discontinuous boilers fed by direct steam. Of the resulting distillate, the head and tail are discarded, retaining only the purest heart characterised by an alcohol volume of 75%, which is then diluted with distilled water. This is followed by 12 months of ageing in oak casks before bottling and final marketing.

Camerani's Amarone Invecchiata - Corte Sant'Alda Grappa di vinaccia di Amarone Invecchiata has a brilliant amber-yellow colour. The nose has intense hints of cherries under spirits softened by vanilla, liquorice and tobacco suggestions due to the long passage in oak. The taste, soft and rich, shows enveloping warmth and a long finish on the notes of the nose.
