On the palate, it is filling, powerful, and intense, distinguished by a harmonious balance between softness and tannic and fresh components.
The Lacryma Christi Red Reserve “Don Vincenzo” from Casa Setaro is an intense and structured wine, aged in wood, which well expresses the potential of the Vesuvian area to produce very interesting reds, with grapes from the native Piedirosso and Aglianico varieties. The bouquet offers aromas of ripe red fruit, undergrowth notes, floral scents, and herbs from the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it shows good body with well-integrated tannins, complex, persistent aromas, and a finish of good freshness.
The Red “Don Vincenzo” from Casa Setaro is a Lacryma Christi Reserve born in one of the most fascinating wine-growing areas of the peninsula. The vineyards are located within the Vesuvius National Park area, and the presence of the volcano is the dominant element not only of the landscape but also of the wines. The soils of sands, lapilli, and lava rocks are rich in minerals, particularly potassium, and are very draining and light, perfect for quality viticulture. The Piedirosso and Aglianico vines are located in the Tirone della Guardia area at an altitude between 220 and 350 meters above sea level and are partly trained in Guyot and partly in Vesuvian pergola. At the end of the harvest, the grapes are sent to fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks, with skin maceration lasting a couple of weeks. The wine matures in French oak tonneau for 24 months and then completes the aging period with 6 months in the bottle before being marketed.
