The Mezcal Artesanal Espadin Real Minero is produced with traditional methods with artisan care, a real gem. The agave is buried over a live flame, in a real oven made of earth. The result has aromas of sweet smoked, aromatic herbs, which together with savory mineral hints create a complex and expressive bouquet. In the mouth it reveals a pleasant softness, great persistence and pleasant pungency

The Mezcal Artesanal Espadin from Real Minero is a Mexican distillate with an authentic traditional character, the result of artisanal processes. Although the origins of the mezcalera tradition of the Angeles family date back to the end of the 19th century, the current project was started in 1978 by Lorenzo Angeles Mendoza and Don Nicolas Arellanes, who that year purchased a palenque in Santa Catarina Minas, the oldest one today. The term “palenque” refers to a traditional Mexican estate equipped to host all phases of the mezcal production process, from cooking to distillation, including fermentation.

The Real Minero Mezcal Artesanal Espadin is made from pure agave of the Espadin variety grown in the state of Oaxaca. The plant is harvested at maturity, at the age of 10 years, and is then cleaned to extract the sugary core, called “piña” due to its resemblance to pineapple. The piña is then cooked in sunken conical ovens fueled by live fire and is then mechanically processed to extract the sugary juice contained within. This is followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation, after which the mass is distilled twice before the aging phase of a few months in terracotta vessels.

The Espadin Artesanal Mezcal Real Minero has a transparent and crystalline appearance. Smoky sensations and iodized hints characterize the olfactory landscape along with notes of apple and juniper. Intense and warm on the palate, smooth and pungent at the same time, with a persistent finish. A fine distillate to enjoy neat to appreciate the full flavor of traditional mezcal but also perfect in mixology to create premium cocktails like the Mezcal Margarita or the Mezcal Sour.
