Exclusive wineryThe Moscatell Casa Mariol is a Spanish sweet wine made from Muscatel grapes, with rich floral notes. Fresh, fruity, fragrant, with a long, lingering finish on the palate. Try it with a bowl of ice cream or with classic Spanish almond pastries
The Moscatell from the Catalan bodega Casa Mariol is a fortified wine of remarkable aromatic intensity, produced through the addition of wine alcohol to the partially fermented must of Moscatell grapes. The practice of fortification is quite ancient, originating with the aim of preserving wine during long sea voyages. In fact, the addition of alcohol to the must or wine performs an antimicrobial action, thus stabilizing the wine from a biological standpoint. Among the most famous fortified wines are Porto, Madeira, Marsala, and Sherry, all of which owe much of their success to the English market, which between the 18th and 19th centuries was the largest consumer of this type.
Casa Mariol Moscatell is a 100% Muscatel from vines grown in the territory of Catalonia. After harvesting, the bunches are transferred to the winery where they are vinified white through soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. During the fermentation process, the process is then halted by the addition of wine alcohol, which thus blocks fermentation, leaving a significant amount of residual sugars. The wine is finally bottled in a one-liter format with a screw cap.
The Moscatell from Casa Mariol has a straw yellow color with golden reflections. The aromas range from intense notes of apricot and dried figs to hints of candied orange peel, passing through pleasant aromas of white flowers. The entry on the palate is sweet, round, and structured, well supported by the pleasant freshness that anticipates the coherent and persistent returns of dehydrated fruit and flowers. The producer's advice is to enjoy this fortified wine at a temperature of 10 °C, paired with various desserts or cheeses.
