Orma 2019

"Orma" is the broad and sumptuous interpretation of the Bolgheri terroir from the Orma winery, the small jewel of Antonio Moretti in Castagneto Carducci. It is the first wine of the winery, remaining the only one until 2015, the year of release of another bottle with the same blend: a limited production that establishes itself in the landscape of important Tuscan wines. Bolgheri is indeed an area that enjoys a perfect microclimate for international grape varieties, and in this case, Podere Orma has also taken advantage of favorable conditions to develop its wines, pearls of refinement and very high quality.

The wine "Orma" originates from the union of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the five hectares of hillside land that make up the estate, where the soil is composed of pebbles and clay, with little sand present. The microclimate is ideal, with the nearby sea acting as a filter for temperature extremes both in summer and winter. After the September harvest, fermentation lasts about fifteen days, with a maceration of 18. Then the wine matures in French barriques for a minimum of 12 months and rests for another 12 months in the bottle.

“Orma” has an almost sacred area in its purple-red color with deep violet reflections. It presents itself on the nose with a bouquet of plum, ripe cherry, and fine spices. On the palate, it is dense and meaty, with good tannic development and a long, satisfying, enveloping finish. A wine with a strong identity, a great Supertuscan conceived for passion and pleasure, a true nectar of the gods that, like velvet, glides in the mouth. The “Orma” is a wine closely linked to Bolgheri, a red with ambitious structure, a long-lived wine destined to evolve further in the bottle for a perfect expression. A great Supertuscan!
