The Pinot Gris Philip Lardot is a singular macerated wine from Mosel that stands out for its fascinating coppery color and characteristic bouquet. On the steep hills that reflect in the Mosel river, Philip has brought a breath of innovation with bottles that fully express the thoughts of this young winemaker who, driven by passion, decided to embark on a path that is in some ways challenging, as it symbolizes the new in a land deeply tied to traditions. Philip's wines are artisanal and identity-driven, made with the utmost respect for the soil-plant system.
Philip Lardot Pinot Gris comes from the homonymous variety worked in purity and grown on steep slate soils. All vineyard operations are manual, and the use of pesticides or other synthetic compounds is absolutely prohibited. After the harvest, the grapes are fermented with only indigenous yeasts with a prolonged contact with the skins of 14 days. Following the racking and completion of fermentation, the mass is transferred to used barriques where rests for 7 months before bottling, without undergoing either clarification or filtration.
The orange wine Pinot Gris by Philip Lardot impresses with its intense coppery color, typical as this is a gray-skinned variety. The nose releases peculiar aromas of caramel, blood orange, and oxidized apple, which anticipate the balanced and dynamic sip, defined by subtle tannins and vibrant freshness. A surprising interpretation of one of the most appreciated wine regions in the world for the production of white wines, which is enhanced when paired with flavorful dishes such as the traditional königsberger klopse, delicious veal meatballs in cream sauce.
