Belvento Vermentino is a wine that evokes the marine atmospheres of warm Mediterranean days. It is born in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, a land where this famous white grape variety has been cultivated for centuries, producing fresh and fruity wines that pair perfectly with the local seafood cuisine. The Petra estate, which also markets wines under the Belvento label, is located in the Suvereto area. This is a line of labels characterized by a young, approachable, and easy-drinking style. Vinification exclusively in stainless steel allows the preservation of the varietal aromas, highlighting the best expressive qualities of the grapes.
The Belvento Vermentino belongs to the Belvento collection from the Tuscan winery Petra, owned by the Moretti family, who also run the renowned sparkling wine brand Bellavista in Franciacorta. The Vermentino vineyards have an average age of around ten years and are cultivated in the gently rolling hills behind Suvereto, sloping down toward the Tyrrhenian coast, in an environment rich in Mediterranean scrub and biodiversity. The soils, composed of sand and clay with limestone, combined with a sun-kissed Mediterranean climate softened by constant sea breezes, create an ideal habitat for a grape variety that thrives in coastal areas. After a manual harvest, selecting the healthiest and ripest bunches in the vineyard, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. Before bottling, the wine matures in steel for at least three months.
Belvento Vermentino is a typically Mediterranean white, a faithful expression of the Tuscan coastal terroir and one of the white grape varieties that most loves the wind and the sea. In the glass, it shows a straw-yellow color with bright reflections. The aromatic profile is characterized by scents of white flowers, Mediterranean herbs, citrus notes, lime zest, grapefruit, cantaloupe, white-fleshed fruits, peach, and subtle hints of sea spray. On the palate, it is pleasantly fruity, with fresh and rich aromas leading to a harmonious finish, marked by a clear, crisp freshness.
