Vosne Romanée Machard de Gramont 2022
Artisanal
Rare wines
Organic and biodynamicThe Vosne Romanée by Machard de Gramont is a soft and velvety Burgundy Pinot Noir with great elegance. The grapes, harvested from vineyards resting on a clay-calcareous soil rich in silt, are subjected to a spontaneous fermentation and after aging in oak barrels. An excellent wine that goes perfectly with game dishes, for its hints of undergrowth, spicy notes and fruity aromas
The Domaine of Bertrand and Axelle de Gramont, father and daughter, represents one of the hidden stars of Burgundy: a name that stands off the beaten paths of wine tourism and for this reason is all the more recognizable in an absolutely personal style, made of meticulous work in the vineyard and detail and precision in the cellar. Vosne-Romanée undoubtedly stands out as the North Star for every Burgundy wine enthusiast: a legendary name, brought to prominence by the work of some of the most historic families in the region. Machard de Gramont fits into this tradition of excellence with a production absolutely centered on the value of the terroir.
The grapes that make up this Vosne-Romanée come from four different parcels owned by the Domaine Machard de Gramont, managed organically: two of these are next door to vineyards of exceptional reputation, such as Cros Parantoux and Clos Vougeot, while the other two are located within the town. The microclimate of these plots is typically warm and favors quite early ripening, which reflect in a certain more energetic structure in the wines. The limestone and marl constitute an ideal subsoil for the vines, covered by a layer of a few centimeters of soil and humus. The harvest is done by hand and the bunches are completely destemmed and gently pressed, to preserve the finesse of the tannins. The fermentation is spontaneous, carried out by only indigenous yeasts. The aging period proceeds in used oak barrels, for about 18 months. The result represents an excellent interpretation of the Vosne territory, complete and seductive.
The appearance of the Vosne-Romanée by Machard de Gramont is typical of a Pinot Noir from vocated territories and crafted with artisanal skill: rather light ruby red, with beautiful transparencies and scarlet reflections. The aromas are evocative of bramble berries, with strong notes of raspberry, mulberry, and blackberry, accompanied by a spicy background and even hints of melted dark chocolate fused with balsamic whiffs of lavender and licorice. The sensations on the palate are velvety, deliciously played on rich fruity tones and a certain sweetness, with recognizable aromas of savory blueberry. In the background, the presence of a mature tannin, well linked to the fruity returns of dark cherry and a hint of earthiness. A breath of toasted spices emerges in the persistent finish.a certain sweetness, with recognizable aromas of savory blueberry. A bottle to enjoy with meats, from red to game, or with even complex preparations based on mushrooms.
