The Domaine de Montille is located in Puligny-Montrachet, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, between the Villages of Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, in one of the world's most famous areas for the production of great Chardonnay-based whites. The Appellation comprises no less than 17 Climat classified Premier Cru and 4 Grand Cru. The origins of the domaine are very old and date back to the 18th century. After many family vicissitudes, the real turning point that marked its new destiny came in 1947, when Hubert de Montille decided to no longer sell the wine in bulk to local merchants and producers, but to start bottling under his own name. Within a few years, the domaine distinguished itself by producing wines capable of interpreting with great elegance and finesse a terroir with absolutely exceptional characteristics.

In the course of the 1950s, work began on highlighting the special characteristics of the terroir, paying the utmost attention to the individual plots, in an attempt to bring out their different nuances. This patient work, intended to create a sort of mapping of the property, has enabled its potential to be better understood. At the beginning of the 1990s, with the arrival of Etienne de Montille at the company, all chemical treatments were abandoned and agronomic management was converted to organic farming, in order to strengthen an authentic and respectful link with the nature of the land. In the following years, biodynamic practices were also introduced and in the cellar, whole cluster vinification was started, without destemming.

The domaine extends over a total of about 35 hectares, also thanks to some recent prestigious acquisitions in Côte de Nuit, in Clos-Vougeot and in Vosne-Romanée, with a vineyard located right next to the legendary la Tâche. Seventy-five per cent of the estate's vineyards are classified as Premier et Grand Cru, confirming an absolute level of quality. Vinification, both of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, is carried out in the traditional way, with minimal oenological intervention, so as to preserve the aromatic richness and character of each individual terroir. The wines of the Domaine de Montille are the pure and authentic expression of the vineyard, in the sign of elegance and balance.
