Founded in 1921, the Apulian Varvaglione winery has been committed for over a century to enhancing the region's winemaking tradition by focusing on state-of-the-art technologies and processes. At the helm of the estate, located in the municipality of Leporano, in the province of Taranto, are Cosimo and Maria Teresa Varvaglione, flanked by their children Marzia, Angelo and Francesca, the family's fourth winemaking generation. The Varvaglione's vision is directed towards precise and meticulous wine production, in recent years also increasingly oriented towards environmental sustainability. Alongside the wine business, the family is also dedicated to the production of extra virgin olive oil, an authentic Apulian excellence.

Varvaglione's vineyard property has around 500 hectares of vines, supplemented by no less than 1,000 hectares of leased vines and trustworthy conferring partners with whom the winery has been collaborating for decades. These are dedicated to the traditional Apulian varieties Primitivo, Negroamaro, Susumaniello, Verdeca, Malvasia Bianca, Fiano, Malvasia Nera and Aglianico, alongside the popular international grape Chardonnay. In the winery, wine-making practice involves cold pre-fermentation maceration for the white grapes, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for the red grapes. The subsequent ageing takes place in French and American oak barrels of various sizes for the more important reds, again in steel for the more immediate wines.

The Varvaglione winery's production is gathered in several collections, including the accessible '12 e Mezzo' line, the fine 'Papale' selection and the 'Luxury' range of excellence, the latter including the 'Cosimo Varvaglione' Private Collection. In general, these are wines with a warm and enveloping style, typically Mediterranean, enriched by a touch of modernity from the grape processing. Varvaglione's labels are now present in almost 40 countries around the world, testifying to the brand's success even beyond national borders.
