Terre du Lias from Domaine de la Borde is an intense Chardonnay from Jura, aged for 12 months in large oak barrels filled and sealed, without oxidation, thus defined as ‘ouillé’. It has a soft, velvety, full and enveloping profile with hints of fresh fruit and pastry cream supported by freshness and minerality.

The Arbois-Pupillin "Terre du Lias" clearly captures the union between Chardonnay and Jura, delivering a liquid that merges welcoming softness with a profound salinity. After a long wandering leading other wineries, Julien Mareschal, a winemaker of rare sensitivity, decided to acquire 5 hectares in the heart of Jura, a wine region with incredible and still partly unexplored potential. Indigenous grape varieties, along with the indispensable and perfectly acclimatized Pinot Nero and Chardonnay, combined with a non-intrusive approach in the vineyard, outline the picture of a small and interesting reality, to be followed with great attention.

The Chardonnay "Terre du Lias" is produced from pure grapes of the same name, with vines that rest on clay-limestone soils located at about 450 meters above sea level. After careful manual harvesting, the bunches are taken to the winery for destemming and a first clarification of the must that occurs at controlled temperature. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in 600-liter oak barrels, while the aging lasts 12 months in contact with the lees. A wine with great aging potential, even up to 15 years if well preserved.

The wine "Terre du Lias" fills the glass with its intense yellow color, shifting towards gold. The nose is a faithful summary of the grape variety and its land of origin, immediately revealing notes of clarified butter, vanilla, and flint. A harmonious and balanced richness, the same that is well perceptible on the palate, substantial and rich, but perfectly balanced by a pronounced component of freshness and salinity. A complete wine, where elegance reigns supreme, absolutely suited for gastronomic pairings that involve the use of seafood, white fish in sauce, or delicately seasoned white meats.
