Auxerrois 'Anarchie' Jean-Louis et Eric Kamm 2023
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamic"Anarchie" Jean-Louis and Eric Kamm is an Alsatian white wine made from Auxerrois grapes that fully represents the artisan and anarchic style of the new generation at the helm. Vinified only in cement, in the absence of sulfites and without any filtration, it stands out for its straight, candid, and vertical profile. It has aromas of salt and white flowers, and surprises the palate with its lively freshness.
“Anarchie” by Jean-Louis et Eric Kamm is a white wine of Alsatian origin that proudly represents a new generation of French winemakers. What is “Anarchie” for Kamm? A statement of intent? A synthesis of his production approach? A bit of all this. First of all, it is a white wine made from Auxerrois grapes, a variety widely cultivated in Alsatian soil, capable of giving its best if approached ‘on tiptoe’, reducing yields in the vineyard, along with unnecessary additions in the cellar.
The Auxerrois grapes that give life to “Anarchie” grow in the village of Dambach-la-Ville, on different plots located in areas characterized by dark soils rich in granite. The positive influence of the fresh breezes coming from the Rhine River, combined with the average altitudes, allows for the extraction of the true purity of the fruit. The care of the vineyard has been passed down from father to son: for always they work organically, in total respect for the environment, but with the new generation, they wanted to go further, working without sulfur and bottling without filtering. This Auxerrois is spontaneously vinified and aged for a short time in cement tanks, without any temperature control.
There are few Auxerrois like “Anarchie” by Jean-Louis et Eric Kamm: a concentrate of deep minerality and pure gustatory straightforwardness. It appears slightly cloudy to the eye, thanks to the absence of clarifications or filtrations before bottling, ready to ignite the glass with lively and vibrant sensations ranging from wildflowers to aromatic herbs, from subtle spices to a mix of dried fruit, all surrounded by intense saline breezes. On the palate, it is tense and dynamic, straight and uncompromising, with surprising acidity and a crisp salinity in the finish.
