Barolo 'Tradizione' Marchesi di Barolo 2019
Perfect to give as a giftThe Barolo Tradizione by Marchesi di Barolo is a great Piedmontese red wine that comes with a garnet-red and elegant garnet. Intense notes of cinnamon, absinthe, licorice, wild rose and Virginia tobacco on the nose, while the taste is full and elegant, with soft and enveloping tannins and a very long spicy aromatic finish.
The “Tradizione” of Barolo comes to life in this label from Marchesi di Barolo, a producer that has contributed over the years to the extraordinary success of this Piedmontese red wine worldwide. The traditional character of this label is due to the fact that the Nebbiolo, just as it was originally, comes from different vineyards and plots, which, once blended, contribute to providing a general overview of the entire denomination, rather than focusing on a specific subzone. A rich structure is accompanied by a strong character, where the range of aromas on the nose has great freedom of expression.
This Barolo “Tradizione” originates from the grapes of a variety that has written the history of the successes of various types of Piedmontese wines, the Nebbiolo. Marchesi di Barolo cultivates this variety in vineyards characterized by a good slope, featuring a clayey and sandy subsoil, where we find quartz and silt. In the vineyard, the chosen training system is that of the counter-espalier with the system of guyot. After a soft pressing, the must ferments in temperature-controlled tanks, macerating on the skins for 8 days, during which periodic pump-overs are performed, allowing the wine to enrich itself with all the trace elements present in the skins of the grapes. The final aging first involves a quick passage in small oak barrels, and then a period of 36 months to be spent in large Slavonian oak barrels.
The Barolo “Tradizione” Marchesi di Barolo moves in the glass with a typical garnet color, crystal clear and enchanting to the eye. The bouquet of aromas that emerges on the nose is interesting, where the notes are clear and precise, telling a fruity soul adorned with spicy, floral, and balsamic touches. On the palate, it has excellent body, always elegant in the mouth thanks to a tannic grip finely integrated into the overall structure; it finishes with a finale characterized by an aromatic aftertaste from which a flavor of licorice emerges. A label that, sip by sip, tells us the traditions and customs related to winemaking in Langa.
