The Bianco ‘Carat’ from the Friulian winery Bressan represents a remarkable interpretation of the territory, a strong character orange wine that reflects the personality of the producer Fulvio Bressan. The ‘Carat’ comes from a traditional blend of indigenous varieties from Friuli-Venezia Giulia, such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and Malvasia Istriana, skillfully crafted through prolonged skin maceration and long aging in oak. In particular, Ribolla Gialla provides complexity and structure, Malvasia Istriana adds freshness, while Friulano gives an irresistible and typical almond aftertaste.
The ‘Carat’ Bianco by Bressan consists of a blend of the indigenous grape varieties Friulano, Malvasia Istriana, and Ribolla Gialla, varieties planted in 1990 on predominantly clayey soils, characterized by a high presence of limestone and sandstone. The grapes have grown according to sustainable practices and the harvest is carried out entirely by hand in a slightly late period, in order to ensure the full ripening of each individual berry. In the winery, the
the bunches are first destemmed and then softly pressed, with the must undergoing spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with 20-25 days of skin maceration. After this period, the mass is partially transferred to barriques and partially to large 2,000-liter oak barrels for the continuation of fermentation and aging of about 3 years, at the end of which the wine is finally bottled without any filtration. The Bianco ‘Carat’ by Fulvio Bressan has a deep golden yellow color. The complex olfactory panorama consists of intense notes of apricot, peach, melon, and orange peel, enriched by hints of spices and acacia honey and a pleasant almond background. Soft, fresh, and enticing the tasting, with great breadth and refined savory-mineral persistence.
