Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Le Macioche 2019
The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Le Macioche is a powerful and very intense red wine for aging, aged for over 3 years in large oak barrels. Enveloping sensations of berry jam, flowers, humus and sweet spices are the prelude to a robust, intense, elegant and persistent sip
The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from the Le Macioche winery is an intense, complex, and elegant red wine, produced with the Sangiovese Grosso grape in purity. Born from the southeast slope of the famous hill of Montalcino, it expresses a pleasant fruit maturity, with deep and persistent aromas. Thanks to the long aging period in oak barrels, the taste is particularly harmonious and balanced, now devoid of the exuberant youthful roughness typical of Sangiovese. It is thus already ready to drink immediately, although a few years of bottle aging will allow the Brunello to develop its full range of elegant and refined tertiary aromas.
The red Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is produced by the Le Macioche winery, currently managed by the Cotarella family. The estate is located at an altitude of about 450 meters above sea level, on soils predominantly composed of clay, with the presence of galestro and rocky outcrops. In the vineyard, organic farming is practiced, in full respect of an environment that is still wild and unspoiled. In these particular conditions and thanks to a sunny but cool and always well-ventilated climate, Sangiovese manages to mature perfectly. The presence of notable temperature fluctuations between day and night temperatures also favors the production of grapes characterized by rich and mature aromatic profiles.
The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva wine from the Le Macioche winery is produced with fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 40 months in large oak barrels and concludes the aging with a period in bottle before being put on sale. In the glass, it presents itself with a rather intense garnet red color. On the nose, it recalls subtle scents of violet, aromas of ripe cherry, of small berries, of currant jam, shady hints of underbrush and humus, licorice root, and spices. On the palate, it has a good structure, with elegant, complex aromas and a dense and evolved tannic texture. The finish is long and persistent, with a refreshing closure.
