The Chartreuse Jaune is a liquor produced in Voiron by the Carthusian monks with the same aromatic herbs used for Chartreuse Verte but in different proportions. It is sweet, smooth, spicy and floral, with elegant notes of honey. To be enjoyed at the end of a meal, or as an ingredient for elaborate and complex cocktails

Chartreuse Jaune is a liqueur produced in France at the Chartreuse of Voiron by Carthusian monks. The ancient recipe for this mythical liqueur remains shrouded in mystery. It has been passed down through the centuries, as a memory of a precious and secret monastic tradition. It is made using as many as 130 different herbs and plants, skillfully gathered and selected by the monks. Its charm lies precisely in this art of blending, in a harmonious balance, all the botanicals, just as it was many centuries ago, almost as if time had stopped. The liqueur is complex and elegant, with soft floral, balsamic, and spicy notes. It can be enjoyed at the end of a meal, or it can be used to create original cocktails with a particularly refined taste.

The Chartreuse Jaune liqueur is a label that has centuries of history and incredible events behind it, which seem to border on legend. Its origins date back to 1605. It was in this year that in Paris the Carthusian monks of the Chartreuse of Vauvert discovered the existence of a manuscript that contains the formula for making a elixir of long life, using all the botanicals and medicinal herbs known at the time. A recipe so complex and difficult to realize, that it would take until 1737, when the monks of the Grande Chartreuse of Grenoble would produce this mythical liqueur for the first time. The ancient tradition has been kept alive through the centuries and today the monks of the Chartreuse of Voiron continue to produce this mysterious liqueur. The recipe remains a secret, jealously guarded by the only two religious, who after gathering the botanicals, decide the exact proportions of the 130 herbs and plants.

Jaune Chartreuse is created with the same herbs as the other famous liqueur from Voiron, Chartreuse Vert, but used in different proportions. Of the recipe, we only know that it is made with alcohol, sugar, and 130 botanicals. After the long production process, the liqueur ages for at least 3 years in oak barrels. It presents a bright yellow color. On the nose, it expresses a seductive bouquet with soft tones, with scents of flowers and wild herbs, balsamic hints and herbs medicinal, spicy hints, and honeyed softness. The sip is warm and enveloping, with a harmonious sweetness in the mouth and a very persistent finish.
