'Claviento' Despeinada
Artisanal"Claviento' by the Despeinada winery is a white wine, an authentic expression of Grenache Blanc from Catalonia. The grapes are harvested in August from a modest vineyard exposed to strong winds, from which the wine takes its name. After a 24-hour maceration, alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and maturation in steel. A small production for an agile and fresh wine, intense with exotic fruity aromas
The ‘Claviento’ is a lightly macerated white wine with a pure and spontaneous soul, made by the small Catalan winery Finca La Despeinada using only Garnacha Blanca grapes, known as Garnatxa Blanca in Catalonia and Grenache Blanc in France. This grape variety is related to the much more famous and widespread Garnacha Tinta (Grenache Noir) and is mainly cultivated in the northeast of Spain, where it seems to have originated, and in the Southern Rhône. Bodega Despeinada cultivates this variety in the Bot area according to a handcrafted and sustainable production approach.
Finca La Despeinada ‘Claviento’ comes from pure Garnatxa Blanca grapes. The vines are about 25 years old and are grown according to the principles of organic farming on soils characterized by an abundant presence of limestone. The grapes are hand-picked and then undergo 24 hours of pre-fermentation maceration. Subsequently, a gentle pressing takes place, and the resulting must undergoes spontaneous alcoholic fermentation.thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts. The subsequent maturation period takes place in steel tanks for 5 months, after which the wine is bottled without added sulfites.
The Garnacha Blanca ‘Claviento’ from Finca La Despeinada expresses an intense straw yellow color. The nose offers rich fruity aromas of peach and melon, combined with mineral notes and tropical fruit. Fresh, agile, and pleasantly rustic on the palate, with excellent sapidity and ease of reading. Due to its dynamism, this Catalan Garnacha Blanca represents a perfect pairing with various fish, shellfish, or mollusk dishes, such as the traditional esqueixada de baccalà, a cod salad seasoned with peppers, onions, tomatoes, and olives.
