Coteaux Champenois Blanc 'Vin de Comptoir' Charles Dufour
Artisanal
Rare winesCoteaux Champenois Blanc "Vin de Comptoir" by Charles Dufour is one of the few white wines of the Champagne area. A rarity considering that the area has always been famous for its bubbles, however Charles Dufour has decided to propose a new challenge. It is a blend of Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vinified and aged in barrique that reveal a clear, slender, fine and very fresh sip, with a bouquet of oak wood, chamomile, aromatic herbs and light spiciness.
The ‘Vin de Comptoir’ Coteaux Champenois Blanc by Charles Dufour represents a rare and refined white wine still produced in the Champagne region from the blending of different vintages, as it is indeed a perpetual assemblage. The Coteaux Champenois constitutes a sought-after AOC, equivalent to our DOC, which shares with Champagne the production area and the permitted varieties but which, unlike this, is reserved for still wines. The vigneron of the Côte des Bar, Charles Dufour, stands out for his natural and spontaneous production spirit, which translates into sparkling wines of pure style, a true manifestation of the Aube terroir. The French expression “vin de comptoir” literally means “counter wine”.
Charles Dufour Coteaux Champenois Blanc ‘Vin de Comptoir’ is crafted from a blend of Pinot Blanc (60%), Chardonnay (30%), and Pinot Noir (10%), the result of different vintages. The grapes, cultivated under certified organic farming, are vinified white with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in barrique, barrels in which the wine also matures for several months. The masses are worked according to the perpetual reserve technique, which consists of placing the wine from one vintage in a wine container and, year after year, subtracting a portion of liquid to be used for the creation of a sans année, adding the equivalent of wine from the new vintage. The process is repeated for a variable number of vintages, at the discretion of the producer.
Bright is the straw-yellow color of the Coteaux Champenois ‘Vin de Comptoir’ Blanc Charles Dufour. On the nose, it evokes notes of white-fleshed fruit, wildflowers, and aromatic herbs, combined with mineral, spicy, and boisé descriptors. Taste, fine and refined, with great backbone and freshness, with a pleasant mineral finish. A taut and sharp white, perfect for those who desire a drink capable of leaving a lasting impression in the mind and senses.
