Etna Rosso "Barbagalli" is a red wine of extraordinary elegance, among the best expressions of Nerello Mascalese. It matures for 20 months in oak barrels and expresses itself on well-balanced tones of roots, red fruit, cherries and sweet spices, combined with distinct mineral nuances. The taste is velvety and precise, supported by fine tannins and an energetic freshness.

A Red that defies the passage of time, endowed with great completeness of taste, and with an excellently developed aromatic spectrum: this and much more is the Etna DOC “Barbagalli” made by the Pietradolce winery, a wine with a memorable drinking experience thanks to a truly satisfying, delicate, and harmonious sip. A label where Nerello Mascalese, an important indigenous Sicilian grape, manages to express itself to the fullest, thanks to a terroir that enhances its qualities. This “Barbagalli” is dedicated to all those who want to indulge in the luxury of a bottle that is nothing short of unforgettable.

The Pietradolce winery produces this Etna Rosso “Barbagalli” from Nerello Mascalese grapes grown in bush vines; these are pre-phylloxera vineyards characterized by a sandy subsoil rich in skeleton, whose vines have an average age ranging from 80 to 100 years. After harvest, the wine macerates in contact with the skins for about 18 days and is gently pressed; then it moves on to the aging phase, carried out for 20 months in French oak tonneaux, and to bottling.

The “Barbagalli” is an Etna Rosso that reveals itself in the glass with a ruby color, with a slight garnet reflection at the rim. The array of aromas that develop on the nose is complex and layered, composed of notes that, from tobacco and sweet spices, shift towards hints of fruit in spirit. On the palate, it is captivating, with a medium-bodied sip that unfolds on a finely integrated tannic structure, supported by a fresh, vibrant vein. A bottle with which the Pietradolce winery has always received praise from both national and international critics, showcasing one of the highest quality expressions ever achieved by Nerello Mascalese throughout Sicily.
